In honor of September 30 being National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, we offer some numbers that tell the story of the state of women’s health and well being in the United States, circa 2015:

84: The percentage of American women who do not smoke.

66: The percentage of American women who get the recommended amount of weekly exercise.

84: The percentage of American women who have some type of health insurance.

33: The percentage of American women with hypertension.

86: The percentage of American women who are in good or excellent health.

81: The number, in years, of average female life expectancy in the United States.

76: The number, in years, of average male life expectancy in the United States.

87: The number, in years, of average female life expectancy in Japan.

1: Japan’s position in the ranking of the world’s nations of average female life expectancy.

36: The United State’s ranking on the same list.

26: The average age at which an American woman had her first baby in 2013.

21.4: The average age of the same event, in 1970.

500: The minimum number of organizations hosting activities today to celebrate National Women’s Health Day.

10.7 million: The number of women who completed an organized running event in 2014.

8 million: The number of men who completed an organized running event in 2014.
